UF thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons provide the latest in surgical care, including advanced, leading-edge and minimally invasive procedures at Shands at UF medical center in Gainesville. They are at the forefront of research initiatives to further improve patient care and quality of life.

In the 2010-2011 edition of America’s Best Hospitals, published by U.S. News & World Report, heart care and heart surgery at Shands at UF ranked the highest among Florida hospitals and 32nd nationwide. UF surgeons offer the full spectrum of care from routine cardiac surgical procedures to surgical care for complex patient cases.

Faculty members engage in outstanding basic science and clinical research, education of medical students and residents, local and national administrative leadership and thoughtful care of patients before, during and after surgery.
